Senegalese Migrant Rescued From Sea By Spanish Coast Guard Wins £300,000

Winner: Senegalese man Ngame, who did not give his second name, was rescued from an overcrowded wooden boat by Spanish coast guard in 2007. He and his wife have now scooped £300,000

Unemployed Senegalese migrant who was rescued from an overcrowded wooden boat by Spanish coast guard in 2007 has won £300,000 in Spain’s Christmas lottery El Gordo. Ngame told Spanish media that he and his wife were rescued from a boat with 65 people travelling from Western coast of Africa towards Spain’s Canary Islands.

El Gordo: Ngame is among 35 Africant migrants from Senegal, Mali and Morocco to scoop a share of the lottery's 1.6 billion euro jackpot

He says: ‘ Today I thank the Spanish Government, the Spaniards too,’ ‘They saved us when we were in the middle of the sea.’ However, he did not disclose his last name to reporters but talked about how life has been difficult for him and his wife since they arrived in Almeria. Ngame said it’s too soon to decide how they will use the jackpot, he will have to talk with his wife and see.

Haha! The anti immigrant crowd will be very salty about this. Good for them.
