Football Fans Wants To Find Iraqi Boy Who Wore Plastic Bag With "Messi 10" On It To Give Him A Proper Jersey

Reports from Turkey suggested the image is of a child from Iraq

AN Iraqi child has caught the imagination of social media — after he was pictured wearing a humble plastic bag with ‘Messi 10’ scrawled on the back.

The picture, believed to be from the war-hit area of Dohuk in Iraq, has exploded online with football fans saying they want to get the child a proper shirt — or even to meet his idol.

However, it has been difficult to verify the image, or whether it really is from Iraq, after a Turkish blog claimed it was from the area. Some have claimed it is a PR stunt, but this is unclear.

But that has not stopped the powerful and wide football fraternity offering to help out and spreading the word. Twitter account Messi10stats said: “We got a DM from Leo’s team. They want to know who this kid is so that Leo can arrange something for him. RT & spread.”

Whether the image is real or fake — genuine attempts to find out are being made. And if it does happen, it might be one of the most extraordinary stories of the year.
