Magali Gonzakez

A  teenage girl with a rare disorder that traps her in the body of a 90-year-old has surpassed her life expectancy by two years, celebrating her 15th birthday. The unusual condition, known as Hutchinson-Gilford Preogeria Syndrome, caused Magali Gonzakez Sierra to age at a rapid rate after she hit 18 months of age.

Brave Magali, from Colombia, is forced to battle with a horrific list of symptoms, including joint pain and dislocation, heart disease and stroke. Despite being wheelchair bound and taking intense medication, the optimistic teen was determined to reach the age of 15 so she could celebrate with music, glitter and make-up.

In an interview with Colombian news site Publimetro, her mum Sofia, 35, explained: “She told me she wants her party; that even though she doesn’t dance, she wants us to dance. “She wants balloons and celebrations and that people come.” Magali decided to celebrate with the ultimate girlie party, dressing up as a princess and enjoying music and dancing.

Magali suffers from Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome, a disease that causes premature aging in children, whose average lifespan is 13 years old.

The party, which was held on Saturday, was a huge success, as family and friends gathered around Magali and showered her in presents and flowers. Famous fashion designer Miguel Becerra made Magali’s day by dressing her up in an amazing lilac gown, wig and sparkling tiara. Even though She and her loved ones had an unforgettable day, fear still looms over the family.
