A School teacher in New York City who recruited a student to help him buy marijuana worth $4,000 USD allegedly beat him to a pulp when he found out the kid pocketed the cash. According to New York Post Kevin Pope, 48, stole the teen student’s iPhone and wallet, and said he would sexually assault his mother if he didn’t get his money back.
Pope is alleged to have told the student: “I will kill you if I don’t get my money! I want my money in a month!” The science teacher was arrested at the school on Friday, where he was charged with assault and robbery.
Pope allegedly asked students at the school as early as June if they knew a drug dealer who could supply him with marijuana. He was linked up with the teen, who promised him he would be able to source the drug from a contact in Manhattan. The sources claimed Pope gave the kid $4000 for the purchase.
The student told the police he met his dealer near the city’s infamous Central Park, but was told the quantity of marijuana he was seeking would cost $7,000 USD. The student, instead spent the money on himself.
After three months, Pope approached the student and demanded a refund. When the student informed him it was gone, Pope allegedly punched him in the face multiple times, before stealing his iPhone 6, gold chain, and wallet containing the boy’s school ID and travel cards.
Reports has it that, the student needed three surgical staples to close open wounds on the back of his head sustained during the assault. The incident is believed to have been caught on CCTV.
